Students at MSU have many opportunities to pursue interests in international issues. Separate interdisciplinary study programs focus on Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe Russia, Latin America and the Carribbean. For students wishing to broaden their academic program in a unique way, MSU offers 150 study abroad programs.

Each year, MSU welcomes more than 3,500 international students and scholars to campus. The Office for International Students and Scholars provides an orientation program, advice on U.S immigration regulations, and visits with local "friendship families" as a way for international students to learn about American family life.

A goal of our teaching program is to give the students a global perspective. Our students must be prepared to work with global companies with the possibility of living overseas. They must understand the global food and environment systems. Our students should be sensitive to different cultures and have language and communication skills. Therefore, our faculty must incorporate global dimension experience opportunities including study abroad and internships. CSS 831 (World Soils and Crops) is taught every-other Spring. The department has a new study abroad/internship program in Zimbabwe.
