Can I ask you a question?
I am happy to answer general computer related questions when and if I have the time. If you do have a question, please keep it simple and be as specific as possible. If you have questions about a specific type of computer system or software application, unless it relates to something I use here, you are better off visiting the manufacturer's site or talking to a sales rep for the company.
How often are your guides updated?
When I have the time. The Buying a Home Computer guide is revised around the start of our Fall semester (August), during our Spring semester (January-April), and when there are major advances in technology.
Can I advertise here?
I do not provide free nor do I charge for advertising space at this site, this is a University not a commercial site. The only companies that I list are the ones that I have had personal experience with and have no problem recommending to others.
Can you put a link to my site on your guide?
Same as advertising, no.
Can I have a link on my site to your guide?
Sure, just send me an E-mail to let me know.
Can I print a copy of your guide?
You are more than welcomed to print a copy of any of the material posted here that you feel is useful, as long as the MSU Copyright statement is not removed.
Can I print copies of your guide and distribute them in my office?
I actually have had several people request to make copies of my guides so that they could distribute them in their office and/or company newsletter. I have no problem with that either as long as the MSU Copyright is not removed.
Can I host your guide at my Web site?
No. Everything you see here is Copyrighted by Michigan State University and may not be posted elsewhere. If you ever see my material posted elsewhere, I would appreciate it if you would send me the URL.
Where's the Macs?
Other than helping a couple friends with their Macs a few years ago, I do not maintain any Macs at work so I have very limited experience with them. Other than mainframes (which I doubt many people are in the market for here) my main expertise is with IBM compatibles and Unix based systems. If you need information on Macs, you should be able to find a comparable document as I have here by doing a search with your favorite Web search engine.
